In a recent post on X, Prime Minister Modi emphatically stated that the inclusion of Sudha Murty in the Upper House serves as a compelling affirmation of "Nari Shakti" or the power of women. His statement underscores the significance of her presence in the esteemed parliamentary chamber, highlighting the strength, resilience, and influence that women bring to the forefront of decision-making.

On Friday, Sudha Murty, a distinguished philanthropist and former chairperson of Infosys Foundation, received a nomination to the Rajya Sabha, marking a significant acknowledgment of her contributions to society.

On his official X account (previously Twitter), Prime Minister Narendra Modi joyfully declared the nomination, expressing his delight at the President of India nominating @SmtSudhaMurty Ji to the Rajya Sabha. In his post, he lauded Sudha Ji's vast and inspiring contributions to various fields such as social work, philanthropy, and education.

Adding to this, he emphasized that her membership in the Rajya Sabha serves as a robust affirmation of 'Nari Shakti,' symbolizing the resilience and potential of women in influencing the trajectory of our nation. Extending his wishes, he expressed hopes for a productive and impactful tenure for Sudha Murty in the parliamentary sphere.

Back in January, the President made a notable nomination to the Rajya Sabha by appointing Satnam Singh Sandhu, a prominent figure in Indian education. Renowned as one of the country's leading educationists, Sandhu initiated the Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) at Landran in Mohali in 2001. His visionary efforts also led to the establishment of Chandigarh University in 2012, earning a prestigious spot in the QS World Rankings 2023 as the foremost private university in Asia.

It's worth noting that the President holds the authority to nominate up to 12 members to the Upper House, a mechanism that ensures diverse and expert representation in the Rajya Sabha.
